Karl Michael Iglesias
is a Puerto Rican actor, director, writer, and collaborator who creates interdisciplinary contemporary performance exploring how poetry moves through the body, stage, music, and protest.
Selected directing credits include The Floydians (Keen Company, Off-Broadway), Pete the Cat (TheaterWorks USA, national tour), Journey the Atlantic (Bembé Drum & Dance).
Associate directing credits include Birthday Candles (Chautauqua Theater Company) and The Comedy of Errors (The Public Theater). Assistant directing credits include The Mojo and the Sayso (Milwaukee Repertory Theater) and Measure for Measure (The Public Theater). He also served as Assistant to the Choreographer for The Secret Life of Bees (Atlantic Theater Company).
Karl is the recipient of the NYSCA/NYFA Fellowship in Poetry, Hell's Kitchen North American Tour Fellowship, the Drama League Irene Gandy Directing Assistantship, the Drama League FutureNow Directing Fellowship, and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Office Hours Residency. He is a commissioned playwright with Milwaukee Chamber Theatre for The Well. Originally from Milwaukee and now based in Brooklyn, Karl is the author of two poetry collections, CATCH A GLOW, and The Bounce.
